Metals
Each metal looks and ages differently outdoors.
| Metal | What to know |
|---|---|
| Aluminum | Light and does not rust. Bare or painted. |
| Steel | Strong and low cost. Comes coated or painted for outdoor use. |
| Stainless steel | Resists corrosion. Keeps a bright metal look. |
| Copper | Bare copper turns brown, then green, as it weathers. |
| A606 weathering steel (Cor-Ten) | Forms a stable, rust-colored surface layer outdoors. |
| Rheinzink | A titanium zinc sheet. It weathers to a blue-gray surface. |
| Galvalume Plus | Steel with an aluminum-zinc coating. Bare metal look. |
| Pre-weathered zinc | Zinc with a weathered gray look from the first day. |
| Anodized aluminum | Aluminum with a hard anodized surface layer. |
